A PAIR OF CARVED IVORY BALUSTER VASES
18th/19th century
Each tall narrow vase deeply carved in relief with ferocious battle
scenes between lappet and keyfret bands at the shoulder and foot,
the waisted necks with archaic money-form cartouches with figures,
flanked with loose ring handles, one lid with beast finial. The tallest:

18th century
The tapering rest deeply carved to the face with a mountainous
landscape with scholars approaching pavilions on horseback and
sages conversing under pine and bamboo, two seals, the curved
reverse carved in low relief with the Queen Mother of the West on a log
