A LARGE FAMILLE VERTE BOWL
KANGXI PERIOD (1662-1722)
The bowl is molded on the lower body with a band of petals which are decorated
on the exterior with mythical beasts alternating with a variety of fowering plants
and birds, all below a shaped, diagonally arranged panels enclosing various fowers
growing amidst garden rocks, as well as butterfies and birds in fight. The center
of the interior is similarly decorated within a barbed ten-petaled medallion below
decorative bands at the rim. A seal mark within a double circle in underglaze-blue is
on the base.
