A SMALL BLUE-GLAZED
1261 POMEGRANATE-FORM VASE

UNDERGLAZE BLUE, DAOGUANG PERIOD
(1821-1850)
The vase is fnely potted with a globular body rising
to a waisted neck that supports a fared mouth
in the form of fve barbed sepals, the exterior is
painted with a white slip on one side to depict a
fowering branch and a smaller branch on the other
side, and is covered overall with a lustrous pale
blue glaze except for the unglazed foot ring.

with this hall mark illustrated in Zijincheng de
jiyi: tushuo qinggong ciqi dangan (Memories of
the Forbidden City: Illustrated Catalogue of the
Qing Palace Records of Porcelains), Beijing, 2016,
p. 66-67, no. 29, and another pair was sold at
Sotheby’s New York, 20 March 2012, lot 247.
