                                                                translucent ‘snowflake’ ground with five Buddhist lions playing amidst
                                                                ribbons and brocade balls.

                                                                A WHITE JADE SNUFF BOTTLE
                                                                IMPERIAL, 1791-1799
                                                                The bottle, of thin, flattened baluster form with a flared neck and
                                                                narrow sides with flat facets is carved from stone of near-white tone
                                                                and suffused with light russet markings. Both sides are carved
                                                                with an imperial poem on snuff bottles by Emperor Qianlong, the
                                                                characters filled with gilt.
