THREE BLUE-OVERLAY GLASS
SNUFF BOTTLES
1780-1880
The first, 1800-1880, is of flattened ovoid
form and is carved through the transparent
blue overlay with ‘antiques’ on presentation
stands. The second, 1780-1860, is of
opaque white glass and is carved through
the blue overlay with a squirrel on a gourd
on one side and a beetle on a gourd on
the other. The third, 1800-1880, is of
translucent milky-white glass and is carved
through the blue overlay with a phoenix and
blossoming peony on each side.

A BLACK AND GREY JADE SNUFF
BOTTLE
1760-1860
The ovoid bottle is carved in low relief to
imitate a protective carrying device fitted
over a jar. The stone is of inky-black and
mottled-grey tones.
