           A SILVER AND COPPER INLAID BRASS FIGURE OF        The sculpture probably depicts Tsultrim Pelzang, a teacher of Tsarchen
           TSULTRIM PELZANG                                  Losal Gyatso (1502-1566/7), living in the 15th and 16th centuries
           TIBET, 16TH CENTURY                               (BDRC ID P0RK1617). Unfortunately, little is thus-far known about him,
           The base’s foot has a two-line Tibetan inscription, translated:   or other Sakya lamas of the period with the same name. The sculpture
           ‘Om svasti. I, Konchok Tsultrim, [along with my] father, mother,   is cast in a classic, non-gilded 15th-/16th-century style used by the
           children, and relatives prostrate to and take refuge in the Dharma   Sakya Order in Tsang, Central Tibet. A related example is published in
           master Tsultrim Pelzang. We pray to be accepted [as disciples] out of   von Schroeder, Buddhist Sculptures in Tibet, Vol.II, Hong Kong, 2001,

           [his] great kindness. May all sentient beings, starting with my parents,   p.1193, no.323C. The attributes of Manjushri—the wisdom sword
           quickly attain Buddhahood. Maṅgalaṃ.’             and the sutra—flower by the lama’s shoulders, likening him to the
           Himalayan Art Resources item no.16897             Bodhisattva of Wisdom. They bloom from lotus stems, which the artist
           22.3 cm (8 3/4 in.) high                          has depicted extending from the base, rather than lama’s hands. See
