Deyi Lin Jiesheng zhi six-character mark, late 18th/

19th century

The vessel with a dragon head forming the spout

and the body forming the handle, the cover

surmounted by a flower-bud finial.

The mark ‘De Yi Lin Jie Sheng Zhi’ may be
translated as ‘Made by Lin Jiesheng of Deyi’.

A blanc-de-chine slender baluster
vase and relief-moulded cup
17th century
The vase decorated around the body with a
moulded and carved design of a bird amongst
prunus, bamboo and chrysanthemum, each
shoulder with an applied smiling ‘lion mask’ handle,
the cup simulating a rhinoceros-horn libation cup,
moulded with a deer and seated beast below pine
and prunus trees, the beast gazing at a snarling
dragon emerging from the draping folds around the
lip. The vase 24.5cm (9 5/8in) high (2).
