           Comprising a stove, zao, the boat-shaped vessel on four small feet,   The incense burner raised on three curling legs terminating in hoof

           bowl; a footed lamp, decorated with mountains on the spreading   the hinged openwork domed cover pierced with meandering
           foot, with a long curved handle issuing from the shallow bowl; two   foliage, 14.7cm (5 3/4in) long; the ear cup, of oval form with deep
           pear-shaped vases, hu, and covers, one of which of square section; a   rounded and slightly flaring sides flanked by two crescent-shaped
           pear-shaped vase; a footed ‘mountain’ incense burner and reticulated   handles raised on a flat base, the bronze with extensive malachite
           cover, boshanlu; and a circular tripod food vessel and cover, ding,   encrustation, 17cm (6 3/4in) wide. (2).

           2000 Years, Osaka, 1999, p.70, no.51; and another example in the   left Frankfurt with his father in 1933. Educated at Harrow School and
           collection of Museé Cernuschi, Paris, published by C.Deydier, Chinese   Trinity College, Cambridge, he was fascinated by Chinese glass and
           Bronzes, New York, 1980, p.131, no.100.            had the billiard room in his house converted into a private museum.
                                                              Also a collector of Song ceramics and a long-standing member of
                                                              the Oriental Ceramic Society, he once lent a ruyao narcissus bowl he
                                                              purchased from the J.T. Tai Collection to the Society’s Song exhibition.
