A BRONZE RECTANGULAR-SECTION CENSER
AND COVER
Qing Dynasty
Finely cast with a pair of openwork chilong handles,
the vessel decorated in relief with a pair of lion-
dogs pursuing a ribboned ball, the plain square
neck supporting the keyfret-patterned galleried
rim, the openwork cover with two scrolling lotus
flowers below a Fu-lion holding a lingzhi branch, all
supported by four animal mask-decorated cabriole
legs, the bronze with very dark brown patination
throughout.

A SHIWAN FIGURE OF BODHIDARMA AND A
SHIWAN 'DRAGON' VASE
19th - early 20th century
The monk with bulging forehead and glaring eyes,
wearing a voluminous robe with arms folded, his
bare left foot shown under the hem, the thick blue
glaze covering the robe mottled and pulling thin
on the edges; the vase with a pair of loose ring
handles finely detailed in relief with two medallions
of twin dragons surrounded by the Eight Buddhist
Treasures, glazed in mottled blue and gilt. (2)
Bodhidarma: 10 1/2in (27cm) high;
Vase: 11 3/8in (28.9cm) high
