A PAINTED GRAY POTTERY JAR AND COVER, HU
Han Dynasty
Raised on a tall, conical base supporting a low-set belly tapering
gracefully inward to a short neck and flared rim, the surface painted
in carmine pigments with two bands of triangular whorl patterns
under a broader band at the rim, the flared lip and base repeating the
decoration in simplified form, the associated cover echoing the design.

A YUEYAO OLIVE-GREEN-GLAZED JAR, HU
Western Jin Dynasty
The stoutly potted globular body applied with three concentric rings
separated by further incised rings and abstract decoration below the
shoulder and applied with a mask and ring handle covered overall by a
mottled olive-green glaze stopping at the midpoint of the burnt brown
body.

The dating of this lot is confirmed by the results of a
Thermoluminescence test by Oxford Authentication, Sample no.
C124a93 dated February 6, 2024.
