and protruding inlaid eyes, framed by long-lobed
ears and hair pulled back in a high topknot,
painted in russet, blue and black; the other a head
of Buddha, the round face with inlaid black glass
eyes and an urna between slender arched brows,
framed by long-lobed ears and an ushnisha
covered in conical spirals, painted in russet, red,
black and white, both mounted on stands (2)

the dhoti falling in rounded folds over the legs,
the face with a benevolent expression framed by
a ‘jeweled’ headband and an elaborate diadem
concealing a high chignon
