SONG YUAN DYNASTY the deeply rounded body rising from a slightly tapered foot
to an everted rim, covered overall in an ivory glaze pooling in
potted with a narrow groove encircling the exterior below the characteristic teardrops to one side of the exterior, the rim
rim, covered overall with a lustrous black glaze, thinning at the bound in metal
rim with russet streaks extending downwards, the glaze falling Diameter 8⅞ in., 22.5 cm
short of the foot to reveal a thin layer of purplish-brown slip PROVENANCE
and the gray stoneware body underneath Collection of Desmond FitzGerald (1846-1926), Brookline,
Diameter 4⅝ in., 11.8 cm Massachusetts.
