A RARE BRONZE FIGURE
5th/6th century or Later
Depicting the young Buddha in a rare pose with arms falling at his
side and palms up outward in a gesture of compassion, his lithe body
draped in a loincloth, his face set in a benign expression and framed
by hair drawn up in a domed topknot, the back of his head set with a
small tab for attachment, the surface with a mottled brown patina and
recessed patches of verdigris, traces of gilding.
