Acquired directly from the artist in Guangzhou
A native of Guangzhou, Yang Zhiguang began 8293
his study of painting with Gao Jianfu and later
went to Beijing to study at the Central Academy
with Xu Beihong and Ye Qianyu, graduating in
1953. As a practitioner of the Socialist Realist
approach to traditional Chinese painting, the
artist infuses anatomical accuracy while still
embracing the aesthetic of brush and ink.
This painting, created in 1987 when the artist
held a teaching position at the Guangzhou
Academy of Fine Arts (Guangzhou Meishu
ueyuan) reflects an impression of his trip to
India and Nepal two years earlier, in 1985.

Fong Chung Rui was born in Henan province most recently, he exhibited his paintings at the
