         A RARE CARVED ‘APSARA’ STONE
         STELE
         LIAO DYNASTY (907-1125)
         The grey stone stele is carved in relief on
         the front with a panel depicting an apsara
         playing the pipa on a mythical singing bird
         amidst lotus stems, enclosed by a brocade
         pattern comprised of stylised floral blooms.
