A FAMILLE ROSE ‘LANDSCAPE’ TWO-HANDLED VASE, HU
20TH CENTURY
The rounded sides are decorated with two roundels, one enclosing two European fgures on
an embankment near a fortifed town, the other with a view on a mountainous river-landscape
with European-style houses, towers and fortresses, some on small islets. The roundels are
reserved on a yellow-glazed ground vibrantly embellished with scrolling fowers. The sides are
applied with two gilt handles that are moulded with a twist-rope suspending Buddhist symbols
such as a swastika, twin-fsh and a chime. There is an apocryphal Qianlong mark to the base.
