A BLANC DE CHINE SEATED FIGURE OF
GUANYIN
17th century
The Goddess of Mercy modelled in a relaxed seated
pose with the right hand resting on the right leg
tucked beneath her, the left hand holding a ruyi
sceptre resting on a table with lion-heads forming
the legs, the eyes gently downcast, the long robe
covering the body and falling in flowing folds to
surround the body.

A BLANC-DE-CHINE ARCHAISTIC TRIPOD
INCENSE BURNER
17th century
Thickly potted and molded with a broad everted
rim above raised string bands around the exterior
enclosing an impressed design of stylised archaic
dragons on a leiwen ground, supported on three ruyi
feet, covered overall with an ivory-white glaze save
the base and interior, wood stand.

Shanghai, 25 May 1942
