A FINELY CARVED ZITAN ‘LOTUS LEAF’ TRAY 清十八世紀 紫檀雕雙聯荷葉式盤
QING DYNASTY, 18TH CENTURY
skilfully carved to depict two overlapping lotus leaves
with furled edges forming an undulating rim of the vessel,
the interior of each leaf incised with veins radiating from
a stamen, the underside similarly incised with veins and
further decorated with two curling stems, the tightly grained
wood of a dark reddish-brown colour with characteristic
flecks
