NOTE:

This painting is dedicated to Zhu Jingbo (1889-1968), an eminent painter, epigrapher and
collector during the Republican era. Known as the Master of the Yuebo Studio, he was
acquainted with many artists and scholars in the Shanghai area, including Feng Chaoran,
Wu Hufan and Wu Mei.

NOTE:

Xiong Shiyi (Hsiung Shih-I, 1902-1991), a native of Jiangxi, was a renowned playwright,
writer, and translator of English plays into Chinese. In 1932, he travelled to London
to pursue further studies. After moving to Hong Kong in 1955, he became one of the
founders of Tsing Hua College.
