LOTS 1339 — 1340
PROPERTY FROM A BRAZILIAN CHINESE COLLECTION

Hailing from a prominent Wuxi family, the father of the present owner of this collection was an established industrialist in textile and
flour milling. In 1951 he moved to São Paulo, Brazil where he re-established the family’s industrial base. There he became acquainted
with Zhang Daqian and often visited the artist’s studio and gardens in Moji das Cruzes. And in later years, he also visited the artist’s
home in Carmel, California. Of the two paintings presented here, Temple in the Mountains (Lot 1339) was directly acquired from the
artist’s studio and Living in the Spring Mountains (Lot 1340) was acquired from Zhang Daqian’s exhibition held in São Paulo. Both
paintings have been in the family’s collection until now.
