       EUROPEAN COLLECTION

This painting was acquired in the 1960s
in Beijing, and thence by descent to
the present owner, whose father was
a former ambassador of the German
Democratic Republic in China. He was
fluent in Chinese and made acquaintance
with some local artists at the time. In
1988, part of his Chinese paintings
collection was donated to the East Asian
Art Collection of the Museum of Asian
Art in Berlin.
