‘RHINOCEROS’ DISH

NORTHERN SONG-JIN DYNASTY (960-1234)
The dish is carved to the interior with a shaped
cartouche enclosing a recumbent rhinoceros
gazing up at a full moon, encircled by scrolls
beneath the well, covered inside and out with a
glossy olive-green glaze pooling at the recesses,
the base and foot unglazed.

‘CHRYSANTHEMUM’ BOWL
NORTHERN SONG DYNASTY (960-1127)
The bowl is moulded on the interior with a
chrysanthemum scroll and carved to the exterior
with vertical lines representing lotus petals,
covered overall with a sea-green glaze with the
exception of the foot ring.
