GOLDEN NATIONAL FLAG OF VIETNAM

Dear Compatriot Refugees, in our meeting opportunities,
we use Golden Flag as the symbol of Democracy and Liberty.
Golden Flag with three stripes have begun to return to Vietnam. This
poem dedicates the History and Significance of the Flag.

Fom Golden Banner to Golden Flag

The Golden Banner was fluttering (1)
Above the heads of the battle elephants;

The Trưng sisters and the People were raising
Up in arms against despotic Han invaders. (2)
Bravely the oppressed were fighting.

The Golden Banner has been etched and inscribed
In the History

And in the People’s minds,
Preserved from generation to generations,
Spanned for two millenia, and never stifled.

Golden Banner was modified to Golden Flags in essence
Two red stripes added to background during Nguyễn-Phúc dynasty

The golden color reflects hopeful prosperity and the people’s
appearance.
