RTG upgrades its heart!
ZPMC recently developed a new eight-rope
MAX trolley
[New Technology]
Yard container stacking crane (“RTG”) is
one of the main equipment to complete the
interaction between container equipment at the
terminal front and external transfer equipment.
Its performance directly determines whether
the whole operation process of the terminal
can achieve the expected efficiency and it
plays a crucial role in the operation of the
terminal.
Trolley is the core component of RTG. Its
form determines the operation performance
of RTG. After decades of development,
the common forms of trolleys are four-rope
trolleys, eight-rope trolleys and full-function
trolleys at present. These trolleys show
their advantages respectively in the practice
of terminal operation and are constantly
upgraded by engineers.

The previous four-rope trolley has poor anti-
shaking performance and less inching function and
is mostly used for the working condition of pure
manual operation, but it can not meet the growing
requirements of automatic operation; Eight-rope
trolley is a commonly used form of trolley in the
process of automatic operation at present. The
whole winding system has eight wire ropes, which
are wound on the same drum. Each wire rope is
pulled out of the drum and fixed on the spreader
headblock. Due to the triangle formed by the wire
ropes between the spreader headblock and the
trolley frame, the excellent anti-shaking performance
of the trolley is guaranteed.
However, although the eight-rope trolley can
meet the requirements of automatic operation, the
diameter of the wire rope is larger, and the diameter
of the drum and the lifting reduction gearbox have
to be increased accordingly due to its single rate
lifting system, resulting in disadvantages such as
increased weight, increased container moving cost
and reduced service life of wire rope.
