        Introduction
In March 1935 based on a ministerial circular Ministry of Foreign Affairs
sent out to all foreign embassies in Tehran ministerial circular of Ministry

of Foreign Affairs of Iran the name Persia or Prese has officially changed
to Iran. Until early 20th century following Greek historians’ footsteps the
country was called Persia or one of its cognates in Western countries. Persia
were used to refer to Iran in history and geography books and international
agreements, conventions and contracts until during Pahlavi’s the first
when a group of Iranian intellectuals and historians such as Said Nafisi,
Said Hassan Taghizade and Mhammad Ali Foroghi started a discussion

that the country should appreciate its ancient root and recommended the
use of Iran as the official name. The recommendation became a reality and
with the King’s agreement the formal notice were sent to all countries.
Nevertheless, critics believed part of Iran’s culture and civilisation which
were connected to the name Persia, such as Persian Empire, Persian art,
Persian carpet, Persian poetry, Persian Gulf and so on, were detached from
        Iran’s name forever )nlai, 2016( .
