through the outer loop and pull it tight. This will make the knot strong and
will keep it from coming undone easily.
The improved clinch knot is also good for fastening a spoon bait or a
spinner to the line. But, because the water makes the knot “slippery,” you
need to wrap the line at least 6 times around itself for the knot to hold. Make
the knot on a bait hook with a swivel (see the illustration below). The swivel
keeps the line from twining (twisting) when the bait and hook rotate.
Blood knot
The blood knot is the best and strongest knot for tying two lines together. If
one of the lines is thin you should wrap it an extra time around.
