                           Introduction to Early Childhood Education


    Grades 9-12, 1 Credit

    Students  focus on careers related to the  early childhood field through hands-on  exploration, projects, and
    cooperative  learning  experiences, including an overview of principles of child growth and development;
    appreciation of diversity; engaging learning  experiences for children; principles of appropriate and effective
    guidance; healthy and safe environments; and development of self-concepts and building self-efficacy.

                              Introduction to Teachers for Tomorrow



    Grade 9-12, 1 Credit

    This exploratory course fosters student interest in, understanding of, and appreciation for the teaching
    profession and introduces students to careers in education. Students will develop self-awareness, collaborate
    with peers, build positive learning environments, and discover learner differences. The curriculum is designed to
    help students set attainable professional goals in the education and training career cluster. This course
    introduces students to the high school Virginia Teachers for Tomorrow (VTfT) program. Contextual instruction and
    student participation in co-curricular career and technical student organization (CTSO) activities will develop
    leadership, interpersonal, and career skills. High-quality work-based learning (HQWBL) will provide experiential
    learning opportunities related to students' career goals and/or interests, integrated with instruction, and
    performed in partnership with local businesses and organizations.

                                          Teachers for Tomorrow I



    Grade 11-12, 1 Credit
    Students must apply for this course; application does not guarantee acceptance.

    Virginia Teachers for Tomorrow (VTfT) fosters student interest, understanding, and appreciation of the teaching
    profession and allows  secondary  students  to explore careers in education. Students build a foundation for
    teaching; learn the history, structure and governance of teaching; apply professional teaching techniques in the
    VTfT classroom; and reflect on their teaching experiences. Additional educational leadership opportunities are
    offered through the student organization, Educators Rising.   Dual Enrollment – 3 Credits Shenandoah University

                                         Teachers for Tomorrow II


    Grade 11-12, 1 Credit                                                                             Prerequisite: Virginia Teachers for Tomorrow I

    Students continue to explore careers in the Education and Training Cluster and pathways. This course provides the
    opportunity for students to prepare for careers in education as they research postsecondary options, learn about
    the process of teacher certification in Virginia, and participate in a practicum experience Dual Enrollment – 3
    Credits Shenandoah University
