AREAS OF THE DENTAL OFFICE
The dental clinic is composed of clinical and non-clinical areas. Non-clinical Areas include the
reception area, business offices, and staff room. The Clinical Areas include operatories, the
sterilization area, and panoramic x-ray area. Clinical areas are used for patient treatment and
must frequently be cleaned and disinfected. Proper infection control procedures must take place
upon entry and exit as well as within clinical areas to prevent the spread infectious disease.
The following image displays an example of what a dental office layout may look like. The
design of a clinic will vary, but components in large part will remain consistent.
