index the bibliographic metadata from a digital repository into an outside
local system. This opens up the possibilities for information from one’s
digital collections to be indexed by other systems. For example, as of this
writing, the Digital Public Library of America (DPLA) utilizes OAI-PMH to
enable cultural heritage institutions to share content with the project. Like-
wise, OCLC enables cultural heritage institutions to utilize OAI-PMH to
ingest metadata from digital platforms directly into their WorldCat service.
