To my fellow Mississippi independent dealers,

I hope this edition of our magazine finds you with a lot full of cars and an office full of
customers. As I write this letter, “tax season” is ramping up, and we are finally seeing
some of those big down payments we dream about all winter long. The sun is starting to
shine, and it feels like spring is right around the corner. In the past two years, we have
seen many challenges in our businesses. Still, challenges also present opportunities for
growth and innovation.

Warren Buffett once said, “Someone’s sitting in the shade today because someone
planted a tree a long time ago.” As you would expect, the Association has been hard at
work on your behalf, planting the seeds to ensure the long-term success of our Association
and our members.

In 2021, we voted to establish our first Political Action Committee (PAC) to ensure our
members had a voice at the Mississippi capitol. Our MIADA PAC Board and MIADA
staff are closely monitoring the 2022 Mississippi legislative session for any bills that
affect our members. Every year, we see legislation that could impact our business.
We must work together to ensure our voice is loud and united. Please keep an eye on your
inbox and our social media platforms for critical legislative updates from our Association
and ways to stay involved!

Our pre-licensing classes continue to bring in prospective independent dealers in
record numbers. Our Association is committed to providing meaningful and effective
pre-licensing training to anyone looking to become an independent operator. While
COVID-19 forced us to pivot into virtual pre-licensing classes, we are excited that a return
to in-person education is on the horizon.

Following the success of our 2021 MIADA Convention, we jumped headfirst into planning
the 2022 MIADA Convention. It will take place August 5-7, 2022, at the beautiful Beau
Rivage Resort and Casino in Biloxi. Attendees will hear from industry leaders to learn
new strategies, trends, and best practices that make our businesses more profitable than
ever. Additionally, there will be many opportunities to network with leading vendors and
financial institutions. Tell your friends because this is one event you will not want to
miss!

Another Warren Buffett quote that I often reference is, “Price is what you pay; value is
what you get.” Membership in our state association comes with a small price. However,
the value of being a member is priceless. The MIADA is at the front line of our state
capitol, ensuring that our interests are protected. Additionally, the MIADA ensures that
our dealers get the best education and training opportunities to maximize compliance
without sacrificing profitability. I am proud of this Association and look forward to serving
with many of you in the future.
