Service user to be in appropriate position for rolling and turning
Bed rail to be raised on opposite side of carer
Service user to hold onto bed rail with hand furthest away from bed rail
Carer to hold onto slide sheet at service user’s hip and shoulder level
Step back so arms are almost straight (to avoid the likelihood of pulling in a upwards direction)
Position feet in front and slightly apart, weight on forward leg (as safe principles)
On command of ready, steady, slide move weight backward onto back leg and moving arms in a backwards direction (like rowing a boat)
DO NOT PULL IN AN UPWARDS DIRECTION
Service user to be in appropriate position for rolling and turning
Carer 1 to place hands on service user’s hips (furthest away) and shoulder (nearest). Feet to match position
Carer 2 to hold onto slide sheet at service user’s hip and shoulder level
