Chair must have armrests
Service user must have their feet firmly on the floor Slightly apart and slightly tucked back
Service user to place their hands on the armrests of the chair
Keep hips and legs at right angles
Encourage service user to lean forwards and slightly to the side so their upper body weight is over their knees
Raise one hip off of the chair
Push back using the armrests of the chair
Slide hip backwards towards the back of the chair as far as they can
