BED MOBILITY
INSERTING SLIDE SHEETS IF CLIENT CANNOT ROLL

Carers fold 2 flat slide sheets over in approximately 10 inch widths until they have folded all the way down
This must be done in unison with each other otherwise the folds will be uneven
Together carers take the slide sheets and place under the pillow with the folds underneath

Hold open end down onto the bed with outside hand
With inside hand palm facing upwards place underneath the folded slide sheets and grasp the folded slide sheet
With one foot slightly in front of the other for good posture
One carer needs to take the lead and say ready, steady, slide
Unfold one section at a time pressing down into the mattress as you go
Smooth out the slide sheet each time a section is unfolded
If after a few folds the slide sheet becomes stuck under the client’s
back ,the slide sheet may need to be see-sawed backwards and forwards across the bed to free it
Then continue to unfold section by section until you reach the end of the bed
Flatten and smooth sheet out so there are no creases
