ASSISTING A CLIENT TO MOVE THEMSELVES UP THE BED WITH INSTRUCTION/SUPERVISION
ASSISTED MOVE UP THE BED USING SLIDE SHEETS USING 1 CARER

Place an extra pillow at the head end of the bed
Make sure the slide sheets are not under client’s feet
Make sure client’s pillow is on the slide sheet which encourages client to move up the bed
Client bends their knees and places their feet firmly on the bed
Carer to support client’s ankles firmly to keep feet flat on the bed
Encourage client to push their feet into the bed sliding themselves up the bed
This process may need to be repeated depending on the distance that needs to be covered
Remove slide sheets
