Always communicate with client
Always make a visual check of any lifting equipment before use
Make sure you have the right size sling
Flatten the bed as much as client will tolerate
Place a pillow under client’s head
Roll the client onto their side
Fold sling in half, label inside
Measure against spine, and place along client’s spine lengthways –checking for size
Bring top half over client
