HAS YOUR AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM BEEN INSPECTED RECENTLY?
Since 2011, building owners and managers have been required by law to undertake regular inspections of air conditioning systems with a cooling capacity over 12kW. Inspections must be carried out every 5 years. Air conditioning inspections must follow Guidance TM44 to ensure they comply with the European Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) and be carried out by an independent, accredited assessor.
WHAT DOES THE INSPECTION INCLUDE?
All air conditioning systems with a cooling capacity over 12kW must be inspected. If individual units are less than 12kW but the combined effective rated output is more than 12kW, they must be inspected. The inspection includes an assessment of the system’s efficiency and a review of sizing and advice on efficiency, improvements, and replacement or alternative solutions.
WHAT DO I NEED TO DO?
Under the TM44 Regulations, you need to ensure that an independent energy assessor inspects your air conditioning units. At Accurate Mechanical Services we are independent assessors, accredited to carry out TM44 inspections. Our reports will identify ways to improve efficiency, reduce energy consumption, operating costs and the carbon emissions of the system. If necessary, we can make recommendations to replace older, less energy efficient systems with new energy efficient systems.
WHAT IF I DON’T HAVE MY AIR CONDITIONING INSPECTED?
Buildings and units without a valid inspection report can be fined £300, with a further fine of £200 if you do not provide the outstanding report within 7 days of request.
