FINANCIAL OVERVIEW
The Nature Conservancy raised a a a a a a record amount of private funding in in in scal year year 2017 its second year year in in in in in a a a a a a row row doing so Continued yet modest growth in in in in in fundraising coupled with strong long-term investment results of 11 1 1 1 1 percent percent for FY17 enabled 6 percent percent growth in in in in operations and continued investment in in in in capital proj- ect work around the globe These strong operating results combined with a a a a a a a rebound in in in in in in conservation land gifts resulted in in in in an an an an increase in in in in total net assets and a a a a a a a a a a balance at June 30 2017 of of $6 2 2 billion slightly above the the balance of of the the prior scal year end Programmatic efficiency (66 8 percent percent was somewhat below the prior fiscal year (69 9 9 percent) because because of lower conservation land purchase opportunities and and because because the Conservancy continued to make needed investments in in in in growing its membership Land purchases are opportunistic and and may not occur with consistent timing year year to to year year adding volatility to to the programmatic efficiency percent- age For instance midway through the Conservancy’s next fiscal year purchases of of conservation land have already outpaced each of of the prior two scal years foretelling an upward swing in in in programmatic efficiency for FY18 The nancial results depicted here are derived from the Conservancy’s audited June 30 2017 consolidated nancial statements which contain an an an unqualified audit audit opinion The Conservancy’s complete audited nancial statements can be obtained online at at at nature org/annualreport or or by calling (800) 628-6860 Wisla Heneghan
