1.3.1. Saying your rank
S + be + a/an + rank
My rank is + rank
Example: I am a seargeant.
My rank is captain.
Mr Tuan is my senior. His rank is colonel.
1.3.2. Modes of address
When you ask an officer or superior questions, saying sir/ma’am
at the beginning. When you answer a superior, saying sir/ma’am
at the end.
Example:
A: Excuse me ma’am, can I have a word please?
B: What is it, Private Peter? I am busy now.
1.3.3. Talk about purpose
We use infinitive complements to talk about purpose
S + be + to + verb
Example:
The mission of the Royal Engineers is to build roads and bridges.
The mission of Combat Arms Support corps is to provide close support to
the Combat Arms.
