Open/Closed Areas: FS Road 150 is now open, high clearance vehicles are recommended. NM Highway 152 is open. Safety is still a concern and drivers should be alert for domestic livestock, wildlife, rocks, fallen trees and debris along the road. For road information go to www.nmroads.com. An emergency closure remains in effect for a small portion of the Gila National Forest in the vicinity of the fire area. Recreation sites along Hwy 152 remain closed and the entire Aldo Leopold Wilderness area is also closed. For more information about the area of the fire closure go to www.fs.usda.gov/gila

Active and ongoing demob of resources. Heavy wetting rains across the fire area again today, at the McKnight IRAWS .84" rain/hail. Ongoing rehab efforts continue over the fire area; personnel monitored the perimeter for hotspots.
July 7, 2013 - July 7 Update
As of the last official report the Silver Fire has consumed 138,546 acres. 80% contained.

There has been no increase in acreage on the Silver fire since Friday. The crews that remain on the fire are concentrating on rehabilitation of dozer and hand lines and removing snags from affected roads and trails.
Priorities have now shifted from active fire suppression to rehabilitation of the burned area. The Silver Fire Baer Team members are currently evaluating the burn scar to determine the emergency to reduce flooding and erosion to downstream communities.
A public meeting is being planned for the Mimbres area residents for early
next week. Date, location and time will be posted once finalized. Grant Co. Emergency manager and planning manager are planning to attend.
