Since June 11, crews have been rotating out on a ten day schedule. Fourteen days is the normal tour of duty, however, Gitter said, “I have so many firefighters who wanted to help
we reduced the number of days per tour.”
Placing the KAFB Crash Rescue Unit on scene was crucial in maintaining safe ground operations on the Silver Fire.

July 5, 2013 - July 5 Update - Type 3 Incident Management Team Assumes Control
As of the last official report the Silver Fire has consumed 138,546 acres. 78% contained.

Agner’s Type 3 Incident Management Team assumed command of the Silver Fire this morning at 6:00 a.m. The Incident Command Post will be moved from the San Lorenzo Elementary school to the Wilderness Ranger District at 10:00 a.m. today.
Today’s Planned Actions: Ongoing downsizing of personnel continue, as well as rehab where it is feasible. Crew will continue to monitor the perimeter for hotspots. Chipping continues along FS road 150 and Highway 152.
Fire Activity: No fire spread is expected, although a drying trend is forecasted in the next few days, limited fire spread is expected mainly isolated along the northern perimeter if any spread at all.
Today’s Weather: Partly cloudy and thunderstorms in the evening then isolated showers and thunderstorms after midnight. Maximum temperature between 79 and 84o.
