   China has become Ukraine’s largest trading partner in the first quarter of the year pushing Russia into second place​, the National Bank of Ukraine reported on September 25. The volume of trade between countries reached $2.55bn, comprised mainly of $1.93bn import from China. China’s total share in Ukraine’s overall foreign trade for this period reached 10.6%, leaving behind Russia with 9.7%, Germany with 6.9%, and Poland with 6.1%.
During the first half of this year, China displaced Russia to become the largest source of imports for Ukraine, accounting for 13.9%. During the half-year, China ranked a close third as a destination for Ukraine’s exports. The ranking was: Poland – 6.9%; Russia -- 6.5%; and China – 6.4%.
