4.4.2 Nominal wages dynamics
Ukraine real wage growth accelerates to 14% in October. Real wages in Ukraine grew 14.2% y/y in October, accelerating from 12.9% y/y growth in September, the State Statistics Service reported on November 28. The average monthly nominal wage rose to UAH9,218 a month ($328) from UAH9,042 in September, growing 0.2% m/m in real terms.
The leading regions for average monthly wages remained the city of Kyiv (UAH13,850), the Ukrainian-controlled Donetsk region (UAH9,850) and the Kyiv region (UAH9,132). The largest nominal average wage growth was in administration services (31% y/y), agriculture (30% y/y) and construction (29% y/y). Within the industrial sector, the highest nominal wages were in pharmaceuticals (UAH16,294), mining (UAH13,226), and in coke and oil production (UAH12,408).
Real wages in Ukraine grew 12.9% y/y in September , slowing from 15.7% y/y growth in August, the State Statistics Service reported on October 29. The average monthly nominal wage rose to UAH9,042 a month ($321) from UAH8,977 in August, but declined 1.2% m/m in real terms.
Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman has instructed the newly appointed head of the Pension Fund Yevhen Kapinos to raise pensions for military personnel from March 1, 2019, as well as to conduct a massive automatic recalculation of pensions to other categories of pensioners, the government portal website has reported.
