Since October 1 of 2018, the tariff for the sale of electricity from nuclear power plants set by Ukraine's National Energy and Utilities Regulation Commission is 1.7 eurocents per kWh, while the tariff for thermal power plants is 5.8 eurocents per kWh, so there is a difference of more than 300%. In most EU countries, this gap never exceeds 30%.

In November 2018, Ukraine produced 2.775mn tonnes of coal  , which is 99% of the plan. This was reported by the Coal Miners Union of Ukraine with reference to the data provided by the Energy and Coal Industry Ministry. "In November 2018, coal mining enterprises of Ukraine of all forms of ownership produced 2,775,500 tonnes of coal. The plan was fulfilled by 99%," reads the report. In particular, mines subordinated to the Energy and Coal Industry Ministry produced 332,543 tonnes of coal, which makes up 87.1% of the plan, or 49,157 tonnes less than the target plan. The union also notes that since the beginning of the year, coal mining enterprises of all forms of ownership have produced 30,463,149 tonnes of coal, which exceeds the planned target by 626,799 tonnes of coal.
