TechnipFMC announces LNG wins
Doug Pferdehirt, Chairman and CEO of TechnipFMC, stated, “We achieved record inbound orders in the quarter, with total Company orders reaching $11.2 billion –
a book-to-bill of 3.3. Onshore/O shore inbound of $8.1 billion was also a new record for the business segment, driven by the award of Arctic LNG 2. In Subsea, rst half orders have already exceeded the levels achieved in all of 2018, with inbound of $2.6 billion.
Pferdehirt added, “In Onshore/O shore, we are bene ting from the new wave of lique ed natural gas (LNG) projects. e LNG market growth continues to be underpinned by the structural shi towards natural gas
as an energy transition fuel, helping to meet the increasing demand for energy while lowering greenhouse gases. Our demonstrated leadership in this important growth market will continue as we anticipate additional LNG awards in the coming quarters.”
“In the second quarter, we were awarded the Arctic LNG 2 project. is award exempli es our experience in the delivery of large scale modularized fabrication for harsh environments. e project will bring on- stream nearly 20 million metric tonnes per annum of new capacity utilizing an innovative engineering solution developed during the FEED stage of the project. We will leverage our recent success from Yamal LNG through the continuity of leadership, execution model and lessons learned.”
Major engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract by Novatek and its partners for the Arctic LNG 2 project. is development will consist of three LNG trains, each with a capacity of 6.6 million tonnes per annum, which will be installed on three gravity-based structure platforms. TechnipFMC will execute this project under a lump sum and reimbursable basis. It will cover the EPC of the three LNG trains
and associated topsides, which will be manufactured on a modular basis in Asian
and Russian yards. A “major” award is over $1 billion; the consolidated contract value to TechnipFMC for Arctic LNG 2 is $7.6 billion. tECHniPfmC, july 24, 2019
Repsol to supply LNG to Brittany Ferries
Repsol will supply LNG to Brittany Ferries’ operations in Spain. Under the agreement,
the energy company will build two LNG bunker terminals at the ports of Bilbao and Santander, where Brittany Ferries conducts its Spanish operations. Each terminal will include an intermediate storage tank of 1,000 m3 to guarantee an uninterrupted supply.
Repsol will supply LNG bunker fuel to Brittany Ferries’ Salamanca and Santoña during the ships’ regular visits on routes linking Portsmouth, UK and northern Spain, beginning in 2022.
“Lique ed Natural Gas o ers signi cant environmental advantages over traditional marine fuels, and we’re extremely pleased to work with Repsol on LNG fuelling operations for our future ferries in Spain. Salamanca and Santoña will be our second and third LNG- powered vessels, and the rst to operate to and from northern Spain. Repsol’s expertise in the eld of LNG refuelling and environmentally friendly fuels, as well as its ability to deliver
to us makes them a trusted partner. ese new terminals will allow regular, exible
and reliable deliveries during the calls of Salamanca and Santoña in our Spanish ports,” said Frédéric Pouget, Fleet and Operations Manager Brittany Ferries.
Repsol’s Wholesale & Gas Trading Director, Laura Rejón Pérez said: “As energy leaders, Repsol has added LNG to its extensive portfolio of marine fuels. We consider natural gas as a key fuel in energy transition, and
this agreement re ects our commitment to provide clean and a ordable energy. e LNG bunker terminals in Bilbao and Santander will provide security of supply and exibility. is project is a re ection of Repsol’s commitment to providing solutions to our clients”
Salamanca and Santoña will follow in
the wake of Hon eur (currently under construction in Germany and due to enter service early 2020) as the second and third LNG-powered ships in Brittany Ferries’
eet. LNG provides major environmental advantages, reducing carbon dioxide, and cutting sulphur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide and particulate emissions to almost zero. LNG also complies with the IMO 2020 regulation of the International Maritime Organization that will take e ect on January 2020.

Qatargas delivers cargo to Belgium
Qatargas Operating Company Limited (Qatargas) delivered the rst cargo of Lique ed Natural Gas (LNG) on a Q-Max vessel to Zeebrugge LNG Terminal in Belgium, marking the rst discharge of a Q-Max LNG vessel at this terminal. e cargo, which was loaded at the Ras La an terminal in Qatar on 22nd June 2019, arrived on board the Q-Max vessel, ‘Al Dafna’ on 22nd July 2019.
e delivery also celebrates yet another multi-terminal delivery for Qatargas bringing the total number of multi-port deliveries undertaken by the Company in 2019 to eight deliveries. is operation saw the rst LNG parcel discharged in Zeebrugge and a second parcel at the South Hook LNG terminal in the United Kingdom.
Commenting on this, Khalid bin Khalifa Al ani, Qatargas Chief Executive O cer, said: “At Qatargas, we are very much focused on further developing the concept of multi- port deliveries of our LNG cargoes and o er it to our global portfolio of customers. is will provide our customers with exibility and reliability to help them meet their demand for clean burning natural gas while enhancing exibility of supply. As the World’s Premier LNG Company, we are committed to meet and exceed the expectations of our customers.”
Pascal De Buck, Chief Executive O cer and Managing Director of gas infrastructure group Fluxys, owner and operator of the Zeebrugge LNG terminal, said: “We are particularly pleased at Fluxys with this new milestone in our long-standing cooperation with Qatargas at the Zeebrugge LNG terminal. e Q-Max delivery demonstrates the versatility we o er our customers, with LNG carriers of all types and sizes able to dock at the facility, ample pipe gas take away capacity for delivery throughout Northwestern Europe and a range of options for downstream small- scale LNG distribution.”
e established practice in the LNG industry is to deliver a single cargo of LNG to a single location. Qatargas’ pioneering achievement was made possible by using the largest class of LNG vessel in the world, a Q-Max vessel, which has a cargo carrying capacity of 266,000 cubic metres. Its large capacity allows Q-Max to deliver two
full conventional size cargoes to multiple destinations and customers in one voyage. QAtARgAs, july 28, 2019
