Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman expects that the average wage in the country will increase from UAH8,000 to UAH10,000 ($370) by the end of this year, Interfax reports.
Ukraine’s average nominal wage in Ukraine amounted to UAH9141 in June , which was up by 24.2% y/y.
The real average wage has grown by 13.0% y/y in the same period,
climbing down slightly from 14.1% y/y growth in prior month.
Nominal wage increase was supported by wage hikes lead by transportation (29.0% y/y), finance (26.5% y/y), construction (25.8% y/y), agriculture (25.1% y/y) and industry (25.1% y/y) among private sector.
Defence was the major contributor to growth among government controlled sectors . In particular, on y/y basis nominal wages rose by 38.8%, followed by education with a growth of 19.6% y/y.
Ukraine currently has one of the lowest average wages in the whole of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). "The main priority is the average wage. And we want to increase this figure to UAH10,000 (by the end of the year). This is a real story. Now the wage exceeds UAH8,000," he said. He noted that the whole economic policy of the government contributes to the achievement of this goal, including in the context of deregulation and the fight against shadow schemes. .
Ukrainians working in Poland wired home PLZ2.9bn ($800mn) in the first quarter of 2018 . This represents 86% of all money transfers of foreigners working in the neighbouring country, Polish Radio reports. According to the Polish Central Bank, foreigners transferred a total of 3.4bn zlotys from Poland or over $920mn, which is PLZ700mn more than in 2017. Last year Ukrainians sent PLZ2.4bn from Poland to Ukraine.
