Sonatrach, Galp extend gas deal
Sonatrach and Galp have signed agreements for the supply of natural gas to the Portuguese market for a volume of 2.5 bcm per year.  rough these agreements, Sonatrach and Galp extend their historic partnership by an additional 10 years.
For Sonatrach, these agreements reinforce its position as major supplier of the Iberian Peninsula. As a reminder, Sonatrach and Galp have been bound by a natural gas sales and purchase contract since 1994.

Algerian corruption investigation escalates
A number of senior Algerians are being investigated on charges of corruption.  ose under scrutiny include Ahmed Ouyahia, the former prime minister, and Karim Djoudi, former  nance minister, DW reported. A businessman, Mourad Eulmi, who works with VW in the country has also been named as under investigation.
Abdelaziz Boute ika stepped down from the role of presidency in April and an interim government in currently in place.  ere had been plans for an election to be held in early July but a lack of candidates putting their names forward has led these to be cancelled, amid pressure from demonstrators.
Morsi dies
Mohammed Morsi, Egypt’s former president, has died in court. Morsi, who was a member of the Muslim Brotherhood, was elected
in 2012, with a 51% share of the vote.  is
is considered to be the only democratic presidential election in Egypt. His time in power did not go well, though, and it ended in mass protests – and a decision by the army to take power.
Morsi was in court in relation to charges of espionage, over ties to Hamas. He had been held in prison since 2013 during which time he had extremely limited opportunities to
see his family and receive medical care. Some reports have said he was held in isolation for substantial periods.
 e Muslim Brotherhood’s political arm described his death as an “assassination”. Sympathy was expressed by the Turkish and Qatari leaders.
Gialo field offline for pipe work
Waha Oil Company (WOC) engineers and technicians have begun maintenance of the 30-inch crude oil pipeline connecting the Gialo and Waha oil elds.
Gialo oil eld’s 130,000 barrels per day production is anticipated to be o ine for ten days while engineers replace 18 km of the 152 km pipeline.

Pressure on Sudan’s junta mounts
Violence is on the rise in Sudan as the ruling military council cracks down on protestors.  e Transitional Military Council (TMC)
is under pressure to cede power amid
reports of widespread casualties since a June 3 crackdown. More than 100 people are believed to have been killed, with many more wounded.
 e Rapid Support Force (RSF) has been blamed and the TMC has launched an investigation into the violence.
Demonstrators succeeded in having the president, Omar al-Bashir, removed but the TMC then took over.  e former president was seen this week going to court, where he faces corruption charges.

Sonangol targeted in cyber strike
Sonangol is reported to have been targeted in a cyber attack. ANGOP reported sources at the company as saying Sonangol had swi ly taken “precautionary measures to protect critical targets”.  ese steps included shutting down computer systems and the communications network.
 e attack took place while the Angola Oil and Gas 2019 conference was held in
the country. One Angolan news report said hackers had gained access to more than 7,000 computers, leaving Sonangol disoriented.
SNH tots up the numbers
Cameroon produced 8.1 million barrels in the  rst four months of 2019, SNH was reported by Business in Cameroon as saying.  is is down 1.5% on the year.  e country sold 5.83 million barrels, raising 57.56 billion XAF, up 28.5% on the year.
Perenco was reported as producing 16.3 million barrels in 2018, SNH said.  e company said declines, which had reached 7%, had been reduced. “Projects include the development of the Tiko  eld and the rig drilling campaign whose results were very encouraging at this stage, a er a relatively di cult start,” said SNH.
It also produced 1.7 bcm of gas, up from 290 mcm in 2017. Operating costs for Perenco and SNH were US$6.6 per barrel.
Glencore selling Chad fields
Glencore is reported by Reuters to be working on plans to sell its assets in Chad, citing three sources.  e  elds – Mangara and Badila – provided around 7,700 bpd to the company. Buying the assets was poorly timed, in hindsight, and the value was written down.
