Hydropower plants have been suffering from the effects of drought since late 2020.
As of end-July, hydropower capacity in Turkey was 31,436 MW, corresponding to 32% of the country's total installed power capacity of 98,264 megawatts.
State-owned EUAS has the highest hydropower capacity in the country at 13,993 MW.
Among the private companies, Cengiz Holding claims first spot at 1,443 MW followed by Enerjisa Uretim at 1,350 MW and Limak Enerji at 1,137 MW.
Aydem Energy is the fifth largest player in the market at 852 MW.
According to the International Hydropower Association (IHA), Turkey added 2,500 MW of hydropower capacity in 2020, seeing the second highest gain after China.
The International Energy Agency (IEA) has estimated that Turkey's hydropower capacity could increase to 34,000 megawatts by 2023.
According to IHA data, Turkey is currently among the top 10 countries in the world for hydropower capacity.

    Netherlands’ Vitol and Azerbaijan's Socar on September 8 agreed to transport Turkmen oil via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline terminating in Turkey.
      Istanbul-listed Otokar (OTKAR), Koc Holding’s (KCHOL) bus and army vehicles unit, has received a letter from Istanbul Municipality to sign final documents within 10 days to supply 100 diesel buses and three years of maintenance services to the city government, Otokar said on September 9.
Otokar plans to complete the deliveries in 2022.
On August 5, Otokar placed the best bid, amounting to Turkish lira (TRY) 606mn ($71.7mn) and equivalent to 21% of the company's 2020 revenues, in the Istanbul Municipality tender.
