Croatia’s state-owned APIS IT opens €50mn shared service centre
Croatia’s state owned information technology company APIS IT opened a shared service company, following an investment of HRK362mn (almost €50mn).
The shared service centre, co-financed with
EU funds, is the largest project in Croatia’s
IT and communications sector to date, Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic said at the opening ceremony. It is intended to ensure a “more efficient, quality, transparent and accountable public administration,” according to a government statement.
It will provide a standardised and unified platform for the operation of all government bodies and the further development of all digital services, the statement said. It will also enable the connection of databases and registers to make public administration more efficient on a "one time only" basis.
Plenkovic stressed that the centre is a major infrastructure project for the state because
digitisation and digital transformation are important for economic development and better services for citizens and entrepreneurs.
Russian internet major Yandex tests own retail points in malls
Russian internet major and most valuable digital company Yandex opened three test stalls in malls selling its smart devices and Yandex-branded merchandise, Kommersant daily reported.
As reported by bne IntelliNews, Yandex is among the favourite names for investors overweight on Russia. The company has recently shrugged off governance concerns as it reached an agreement with authorities and established a Public Interest Foundation, an NGO that holds the golden
share in the company and addresses "national interests".
The test stalls sells Yandex smart speakers (Yandex.Station and Yandex.Mini), Yandex.Module, smart home devices and Yandex-branded merchandise (e.g. apparel) in malls in Moscow, St Petersburg and Yekaterinburg.
Croatia’s top software company Infobip continues expansion with Split office
Croatia’s largest software company Infobip has opened a new official office in Split, which will become one of its development hubs, Jutarni List reported.
The office is Infobip’s fourth in Croatia and 66th globally. It was opened after Infobip appointed a new chairman, former VimpelCom CEO Boris Nemsic, amid speculation it is planning an IPO.
With the opening of the Split office, Infobip now has around 2,000 workers worldwide.
