Hungarian oil company kicks off e-car sharing scheme
Chinese Huawei has announced it will launch its Huawei Pay in Russia, the first country outside China to see the system's launch, reports FPRI Bear Market Brief.
Huawei is the latest Chinese company to opening up its payment systems in Russia, which is emerging as one of their most impor- tant markets outside their own country. Chinese mega-retailer Alibaba launched its Alipay service in Russia in 2017 to tap into the growing number of Chinese tourists going to Moscow to shop.
Huwaei Pay is a joint effort with China's Union Pay system, and will be a stepping stone into the Eastern European market. The system's launch date has not been announced, though one source says it’s autumn this year.
Hungarian oil and gas company MOL launched its car-sharing service MOL Limo with a fleet of 300, including 100 electric cars, on January 25. The service will be available in 10 districts of Budapest.
In October 2016, MOL's board approved the company’s long-term strategy, MOL 2030, with the aim of diversifying its operations and reducing its dependence on producing and selling fuel.
Fees cover parking costs, and electric vehicles can be charged at MOL’s petrol stations, Peter Ratatics, director of consumer services said. The company plans to extend the service to Liszt Ferenc International Airport by 2019 and to the entire area of Budapest
a year later. In two years, MOL's fleet could double.
MOL becomes the second player on the Hungarian car-sharing market. In November local startup GreenGo launched its electric car sharing service with 45 vehicles.
