In its statement, Petrofac described the con-

was working to expand its presence in Africa.
Nick Shorten, Petrofac’s COO also stressed this
point, saying: “Today’s award is further demon-
stration of the international demand that exists

established in the North Sea. Since 2016, Pet-

1, 2022, EnergyDayNg.com noted on May 18.
As of press time, he had not commented on the
reasons for the switch to the later date.
NNPC Ltd has been established in line with
the requirements of Nigeria’s Petroleum Indus-
try Act (PIA). The PIA took effect last August,
after Buhari signed it into law following its
passage through both houses of Nigeria’s legis-
lature. It serves as the country’s oil and gas law,
and some of its provisions mandate the trans-
formation of NNPC into a fully commercial
company, NNPC Ltd, that has no direct access
to state funding.
In line with those requirements, NNPC
launched the incorporation process last Sep-
tember by filing the necessary paperwork with NNPC Ltd Managing Director Mele Kyari, shown in May 2021 (Photo: NNPC)
